About
I make images knowing they aren't neutral and come from an apparatus that separates the body’s imagination from the landscape. I’m interested in the image as a point of confusion, even when aware of its structure, to represent the representation. I like being tricked by a photograph, those moments when they feel natural. But I struggle with the complexity of photographs, especially when they become aware of their own perception of memory and power.
Ryan Perez (b. 1982, Camp Pendleton, CA) makes photographs, sculptures, and videos.
